Prince William had his eye on Camilla Parker Bowles' niece years before settling down with Kate Middleton, a royal biographer claimed.
Duke of Cambridge is understood to have had his eye on Emma Parker Bowles , the daughter of Camilla's former brother-in-law Richard from her first marriage.
In his 2011 book “William and Catherine”, royal author Andrew Morton claims the prince was romantically linked to Emma in 1999, when he was 17 and she was 25.
Morton famously wrote a biography about his mother called "Her True Story" which lifted the lid on life as a royal.
A palace insider said William, now a father-of-three, would "gaze adoringly" at Emma.
"He was looking lovingly at Emma and she was hanging on his every word," the source told the Sunday People in 1999.
"Sometimes he gazes at her so adoringly that it becomes a bit embarrassing.
"He looks every inch a young man who is falling in love."
However, Emma was "surprised" to receive an invite to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding in 2011.
"I was really touched," Emma, now 44, told E! "I was surprised because I know he didn't invite a lot of people.
"I think he just started off as a nice person," she continued.
"You could see in that situation how he possibly could have turned out to be a real brat, but he couldn't be further from that and has much more humility than a lot of people I know."
Camilla was joined by last night, as part of Donald Trump's three-day UK state visit.
The tiara Kate wore was originally owned by Princess Diana and she last sported it at a banquet held for the Dutch royal family in October.
It was created for Queen Mary in 1914 and worn several times by Queen Elizabeth II, before being handed to Diana when she married Prince Charles, according to Town and Country magazine.
