Prince William celebrates 41st birthday as King Charles shares unseen Coronation snap

King Charles has shared a sweet never-before-seen picture of eldest son Prince William to mark his 41st birthday.

William is celebrating his first birthday as Prince of Wales today after he was appointed the title following the death of the late Queen last year.

A new photograph posted on the Royal Family's official Twitter account this morning shows William fastening the Imperial Mantle – or Royal Robe – on his father as the pair smile at each other during behind closed doors rehearsals for the Coronation last month.

The caption reads: "Wishing The Prince of Wales a very happy birthday today!"

Only working royals are given public birthday messages under rules introduced by the late Queen.

In 2022, William marked his 40th birthday by volunteering to sell the Big Issue to highlight the plight of homeless people - and he recently renewed his commitment to the cause with a new five-year plan.

This will include building houses on his Duchy of Cornwall estate, and provide further support to help unify resources from different charities.

He also revealed he will talk to his children Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, about people "sitting outside supermarkets".

A lifelong concern for the issue was ignited when Princess Diana took him with her to a London shelter thirty years ago, when he was aged just 11.

Speaking last week, he said: “We can do it. It’s not insurmountable this challenge.

“If anyone does become homeless ‘OK, here’s the way back, here’s the pathway’. It’s nerve-racking. But I’m really excited.

"I've been waiting for the right time to do this."

Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales was born second in line to the throne at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, at 9.03pm on June 21 1982.

He weighed 7lb 1 1/2oz and was the first-born son of the Prince and the Princess of Wales.

It comes just a few days after William was seen with his three children in a new photo released by Kensington Palace to mark Father's Day.

The snap shows Princess Charlotte and Prince George on either side of their father, grinning up at him, with the youngest sibling Prince Louis hugging William on his shoulders from behind.

The children and their father are all dressed in blue, with George, nine, and William both in trousers and casual shirts.

Louis, five, is his typically excitable self and is beaming in a blue jumper, while his brother and sister appear more relaxed.
