Prince William and Princess Kate's Secret to Keeping Charlotte's Childhood 'Normal'

Prince William and Princess Kate are carefully shielding their daughter’s childhood while she navigates royal life. The couple is determined that all their children enjoy a “normal” upbringing and avoid growing up too quickly.

Having celebrated Princess Charlotte’s 10th birthday earlier this year, the royal parents are taking subtle steps to keep her “true to her age.” One such example is her hairstyle, which has remained simple and neat over the years.

Fashion and beauty expert Laura Sutcliffe shared her thoughts with Hello! magazine, saying, “It’s always lovely to see Princess Charlotte’s hair looking so neat, tidy and pretty at the same time.” Charlotte, the middle child of the Prince and Princess of Wales, has long been a fan of plaits, often choosing this hairstyle for her public appearances.

“Charlotte has always been a big fan of plaits and has worn plaited hair throughout most of her public appearances as a royal,” Laura explained. She also noted, “I think it’s great to see a girl of her age experimenting with plaits and having fun with her hair.”

Sutcliffe added that many young girls are encouraged to adopt more grown-up hairstyles, but Charlotte and her family are committed to keeping her true to her age. “Young girls grow up too quickly and do things that are too grown up with their hair, but Charlotte and her family stay very true to her age and respect it,” she said.

Through small gestures like this, Prince William and Princess Kate are working to ensure their children can experience as much of a normal childhood as possible, even in the public eye.
