Prince William and Kate Middleton miss Kitty Spencer's wedding after Covid delay

Prince William and Kate Middleton missed Kitty Spencer's wedding after the coronavirus pandemic delayed the lavish ceremony, it has emerged.

Princess Diana's niece, Lady Spencer, married businessman Michael Lewis in Rome, Italy's beautiful capital, on Saturday afternoon.

Despite being close to both William and Harry, the 30-year-old model and husband said their I dos without either royal brother in attendance.

A number of her high-profile friends, such as Viscountess Emma Weymouth, Sabrina Elba and Pixie Lott, were at the wedding.

The newlyweds began their celebrations on Friday night with a dinner party at the exclusive Galleria Del Cardinale restaurant in Rome, surrounded by their aristocratic guests, before enjoying a sunset wedding on Sunday.

A few days earlier Lady Kitty, who is Prince William and Harry's cousin, also enjoyed a hen party in Florence with her friends, posting a photo of herself outside the Duomo in a polka dot dress and another enjoying dinner with a statement clip reading 'BRIDE'.

As the wedding reception kicked off on Saturday, guests shared images of the evening on Instagram, including photos of the beautiful floral displays scattered around the venue and the bespoke arches framing the stage.

Lady Kitty and Michael got engaged in 2019 and it's understood the wedding was delayed due to the pandemic.

The ceremony was followed by a spectacular fireworks display, before the couple retired for the night.

Daughter of former British model, Victoria Aitken, and nobleman, Charles Spencer, the younger brother of Princess Diana, Lady Kitty is a model who has posed for Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana since 2017. She reportedly used the fashion duo to design her wedding dress.

This week, the Cambridge family celebrated George's eighth birthday - with Kate sharing a short message to mark the day.

In keeping with royal tradition, Kate and Wills released a new photo, showing their son sitting on the family's Land Rover in an apparent now to his late great-grandfather Prince Philip.

The cute snap, which shows George giving a huge grin to the camera, was a big hit with fans who took to the comment section to wish him a happy birthday.

One wrote: "Aw he is so big and I love his huge smile for his mummy.

"Happy birthday sweet Prince George!

"I wish you all the best, a fun day surrounded by your loved ones and a wonderful year!! We all love you."

Another added: "We are thankful that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their three beautiful children are the future of our monarchy.

"Special birthday wishes to Prince George, hope you all have a wonderful day."

Later in the day, Kate and Wills took to social media again to thank people for the kind wishes.

The Queen also shared the photo on the royal family's official accounts, adding it to her Instagram stories with balloon gifs.

Fans were quick to point out how much George looks like his dad, Prince William, in the new photo.

Keen photographer Kate took the snap earlier this month, as has become tradition for the Cambridges.

However the Duchess admitted that her kids don't always love posing for the camera.
