Prince William and Kate Middleton decline invitation to the Baftas

As the Baftas return to a full ceremony after the coronavirus pandemic prevented the normal awards ceremony, two very important guests will be missing.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, have declined the invitation to the glitzy awards despite Prince William being the president of the Baftas.

They have credited "diary constraints" as the reason they are not attending the event which will take place in London at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, March, 13.

Previously the royal couple walked the red carpet together and towards the end of the ceremony Prince William delivers a speech, congratulating the film industry.

Prince William became the president of the Baftas in 2010 and last year in 2021 he did not record a speech for the virtual ceremony as his grandfather Prince Philip passed away.

This was the first time William had missed the Baftas since his appointment. This year the Baftas is expected to air a pre-recorded speech by William in his absence.

Recently Prince William and Kate visited Abergavenny on St David's Day to celebrate the day and their trip included a visit to Abergavenny Market and Pant Farm.
