Prince William accidentally lets slip Princess Charlotte's adorable yet unusual nickname

During a previous trip to the annual Chelsea garden Show, the Prince of Wales accidentally let slip his adorable yet highly unusual nickname for his daughter, Princess Charlotte.

Like many children, the young royal goes by many monikers but Prince William revealed the most unlikely one yet, although it does hold a very sweet meaning behind it, the Express reports.

In a recently unearthed clip from 2019, George, Charlotte and Louis can all be seen running around the gardens in support of their mother Kate and her garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.

At one point, William can be heard asking his daughter to come give him 'a push' on the tree swing, addressing her by the precious nickname.

The future King calls out for 'Mignonette' - which, in French means "cute" or "small, sweet, and delicate".

According to older definitions of the foreign word, it can also mean kind or gentle in French.

Princess Kate also previously revealed a more traditional nickname that she uses for her daughter during an official trip to Ireland in 2019.

Kate met with a fellow mother named Laura-Ann during the visit with the mum taking to her Instagram to reveal that the Princess of Wales shared Charlotte's nickname to her during their conversation.

She explained: "She asked how old Bertie is, and I said he is four and she said, 'Oh, he's the same age as Lottie.' She calls her Lottie!"

The Daily Mail also reported in 2018 that Kate sometimes calls her daughter 'Poppet'.

Charlotte is not the only sibling to have been given a nickname by her parents with Prince Louis reportedly being called 'Lou Lou' within the family.

According to Life and Style magazine, Louis' elder siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte gave the cute nickname to their younger brother.

Prince George who is the eldest of the trio is reportedly referred to as 'PG' or 'Tips' at school which is a clever play as George and the brand share initials.

The three young royals all attended their grandfather, King Charles III's Coronation on May 6 and were praised for their impressive behaviour throughout the long weekend of celebrations.

Prince George took on the important role of being one of the King's Pages of Honour for the historical event, meaning he walked into the Abbey separately from his family.
