Prince of Wales's £1.3m Duchy of Cornwall Cottage is 'cheapest royal residence'

Prince William inherited an impressive property portfolio when his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September last year. The properties were passed down from his father King Charles III along with the Duke of Cornwall title.

Tamarisk House on the Isles of Scilly, just off the coast of Cornwall, is the cheapest among them and the least expensive of all the royal properties. It is estimated to be worth a relatively modest £1.3 million, particularly when compared to Buckingham Palace, which is valued at £1.3 billion.

A spokesperson from Luxury Hotel told Express.co.uk: "Tamarisk House on the Isles of Scilly, is the cheapest royal residence to rent, costing a little over £14,000 a month. The property is valued at a comparatively modest £1.3million and would cost just over £171,000 a year to rent."

Members of the public now have the ability to view Tamarisk House at their own leisure. The Prince of Wales and Kate Middleton spend their holidays in Cornwall at the residence and the King reportedly took William and Harry there when they were children, along with his late ex-wife Princess Diana.

Tamarisk House belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall's collection of Islands of Scilly holiday residences. There is room for up to eight guests at the four-bedroom property located on St. Mary's. As a result, the home is ideal for Kate, William and their three children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.

Visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding blue sea and plants from the comfortable living room. Board games, a TV, and other entertainment options are available throughout the home, which would be perfect for the three Wales children.

Pictures of the interior of the home show an option for al fresco dining outside, plus a fully-stocked kitchen and a seating area. Big beds and armchairs are included in the bedrooms, which also have neutral colour schemes to accommodate everyone's tastes.

One of the bathrooms even has a free-standing bath as the focal point of the space and a double sink, perfect for relaxation purposes. The house is really well designed, with pictures of the Cornwall countryside placed on the walls to celebrate the beautiful scenery. The gardens are equally stunning, and there is even a barbeque which is perfect for the summer months.
