Ceremonial gunfire will be conducted today at Edinburgh Castle, which will begin and end the national minute's silence that will pay tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh.
The country entered into national mourning earlier this month when the Queen announced on April 9 that her husband and consort of over 70 years had passed away peacefully at Windsor Castle, at the age of 99.
Today, the 105th Regiment Royal Artillery will lead a minute's silence for the Duke of Edinburgh with ceremonial gunfire at 3pm. The funeral service will follow.
It is one of nine locations around the UK taking part in the gunfire. However, the Scottish Government is warning Scots not to gather in Edinburgh, or any other location, as it risks spreading the coronavirus.
There will also be no opportunities for the public to lay flowers at any official location in Scotland, as is typically tradition.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Duke's funeral is to be a more 'low key event' than was originally planned.

How can I watch it?
The funeral will be broadcast live by the BBC, on BBC1 a series of special programs dedicated to the Duke will be aired, beginning at 11am on Saturday with ‘The Duke in his own words.’
Official funeral coverage will begin at 12.30pm, and is expected to end at around 4.20pm.
The broadcast will also be available on BBC iPlayer, with segments also expected to be aired on BBC radio stations.
