Prince Philip transferred to second hospital 'for treatment for an infection and testing'

Prince Philip has been transferred to another hospital for further treatment.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Duke of Edinburgh has been transferred to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, in London, for treatment for an infection and testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition.

The 99-year-old Duke had spent 14 nights in the King Edward VII Hospital in central London after falling unwell at Windsor Castle.

Buckingham Palace said: “The Duke of Edinburgh was today transferred from King Edward VII’s Hospital to St Bartholomew’s Hospital where doctors will continue to treat him for an infection, as well as undertake testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition.

“The Duke remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week.”

The Duke’s infection is still not coronavirus -related, the Palace staff have confirmed.

Last week Prince Charles made the 200-mile roundtrip from his Highgrove estate, in Gloucestershire, to visit his father.

The Prince of Wales arrived at the hospital at around 3.20pm on February 20 in a grey Tesla car, and exited the vehicle wearing a face mask, before leaving around 30 minutes later.

A Clarence House spokesman confirmed he returned to Highgrove following his visit.

And last week Prince William, has since stated he is doing "OK".

At a visit to a Norfolk vaccination centre on February 22, The Duke of Cambridge revealed doctors are "keeping an eye on him".
