Prince Philip told Charlotte Hawkins to 'move out of the way' at event

Charlotte Hawkins revealed that Prince Philip had been forced to tell her to "move out of the way" at an event.

GMB star Charlotte spoke about the incident ahead of the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral tomorrow.

Charlotte told co-host Ben Shephard that the incident had happened when she was just ten years old and had been chosen to give a bouquet to the Queen at the Maundy service.

After the service Charlotte had her photo taken with the Queen and the Duke and he put his hand on her shoulder.

But as he went to speak to her Charlotte was left mortified.

She said: "The lovely thing is, you look at that photo there and the Duke of Edinburgh actually put his hand on my shoulder to speak to me.

"I was completely awestruck that he was speaking to me.

"And the words he uttered were, ‘You’re going to need to move to the side because you’re in danger of blocking the Queen' in the photo."

Ben burst into laughter as Charlotte said: "I was quite tall for a ten-year-old and the Queen isn't that tall is she.

"He moved me out of the way so I wasn't blocking the Queen, but I love that because it was just so him.

"He wasn't afraid to say it how it was and everyone respected him for that."

Prince Philip is set to be laid to rest tomorrow at his funeral at Windsor castle.

The ceremony will be pared back because of coronavirus restrictions, with only 30 mourners allowed to attend.

The Queen will have to sit alone and all of the guests will be forced to wear face masks and singing will be banned.
