The mayor of Windsor and Maidenhead has urged the public to stay away on the day of Prince Philip’s funeral, which is due to take place on Saturday at Windsor Castle.
John Story said the ceremony was “a great honour” for the district but would take place behind the walls of the castle due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The mayor said if anyone comes to Windsor “there will be nothing to see” and they should instead comply with official advice not to gather in large groups in public places.
Preparations for the Duke of Edinburgh’s carefully choreographed final send-off are swiftly being put in place behind the scenes.
Harry flew into the UK earlier this week for the funeral and has gone to his former residence, Frogmore Cottage.
