Prince of Wales 'feels let down' by Harry and Meghan claims Palace insider

Prince Charles is said to feel 'let down' by Harry and Meghan's claims and a Palace insider does not accept they were "cut off" financially when they ended their Royal duties and moved to America, say reports.

During an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duke of Sussex said: "My family literally cut me off financially."

Harry said he made deals with Netflix and Spotify as he ‘had to afford security’ for his wife and son.

However, the Duke of Cornwall supported the Duke and Duchess ‘more than he would care to say’, an ally has claimed.

“The Prince of Wales went out of his way to make sure his son and daughter-in-law were financially supported,” a senior source told the Evening Standard.

“Yes, you could say the boss feels let down by what the Sussexes have said."

Harry said his family “literally cut me off financially” in the first quarter of 2020.

In January of that year, the Duke and Duchess released their bombshell statement saying they wanted to "achieve financial independence".

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent,” Harry and Meghan said.

Harry and Meghan’s public duties and some private costs were mostly funded by the Prince of Wales from his private £22million-a-year Duchy of Cornwall income – not taxpayer funds but money which Charles receives because of his position as heir to the throne.

Taxpayers paid for the couple’s official travel, and some of their office costs, as well an undisclosed amount for their security.

The Prince of Wales chuckled yesterday when he was asked if he had seen the Oprah, during a visit to a pop-up vaccination centre.

Charles was questioned by the media as he made his first public appearance since Meghan and Harry’s devastating claim an unnamed member of the royal family made a racist comment about their son.
