Prince Harry 'wanted George, Charlotte and Louis to be best friends with Archie'

Prince Harry wanted George, Charlotte and Louis to be "best friends" with his son Archie before his move to LA, according to a new book.

Upcoming biography Finding Freedom promises to lift the lid on the Duke of Sussex's departure from the Royal Family along with wife Meghan Markle and their 14-month-old.

And despite reports of rifts with brother Prince William and Kate Middleton, the book claims Harry always imagined both families remaining very close.

Royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand write that in his youth the duke "had an image of getting married and spending time with William and Kate, the two couples together, their children best friends".

Before he met Meghan, Harry lived in an apartment at Kensington Palace as a bachelor - meaning he was very close by to the Cambridges, often lavishing the children with gifts.

But the book alleges William, Kate and their children failed to once visit the Sussexes during their time living in Oxfordshire up until March 2019.

"The invite was there," a source told the authors.

They go on to claim that overtime Harry had grown away from the idea of spending so much time with his brother.

"Everywhere you turn, you’re surrounded by staff and family. He was at a point in his life where he was working with his brother, doing the foundation with his brother and living by his brother," the book claims via a source. "It was too much."

It has been reported William and Kate opted to meet baby Archie for the first time after he was born alone, leaving their children at home.

With George, Charlotte and Louis said to have only met their cousin a couple of times despite living just down the road after the Sussexes moved to Frogmore Cottage.

Both sets of families were photographed together at a polo match William and Harry took part in last July - with the brothers denying they had an almighty bust up on the eve of the event.

It has been said Meghan and little Prince Louis appeared to hit it off on the day, but it appears it was one of the only times Archie ever met his cousins.

With the Sussexes understood to have been discussing the possibility of quitting public life as early as May last year, they chose to spend Christmas in Vancouver, far away from Sandringham with the other royals, as per tradition.
