Prince Harry seen at Heathrow amid race against time to get back to Meghan and Archie

Prince Harry has been spotted at Heathrow airport as he prepares to jet back home to California.

Straight after King Charles' Coronation finished, Harry jumped in a car and set off west as he faces a race against time to attend his son's birthday party.

Harry left before the King's procession though the streets of London had even finished and didn't appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

The timing of the Coronation was very awkward for Harry as Prince Archie is celebrating his fourth birthday.

Despite being the grandchildren of the new King, it is believed that Archie and sister Princess Lilibet, one, were not invited, with sources citing that the children are "very young".

Meghan was invited but decided to stay at home with the kids - and get ready for an "intimate" birthday party for Archie.

Harry has started his mad dash to get back to California - and the timings match up with what he told Princess Eugenie's husband before the Coronation took place.

According to a lip reader, Harry joked about his busy day and told Jack he would be leaving at "about quarter to four", to which Jack replied: "Oh really, when?"

Harry was also believed to have said "that's funny" to Brooksbank while smiling as they waited for Charles to arrive at Westminster Abbey.

Looking at departure timings, it seems Harry is on a direct flight back to LA.

He was invited to a lunch with the family at Buckingham Palace as a sort of olive branch, but sadly can't make it.

Harry planned to be "in and out of the UK in 24 hours" so he could get back to California to see Archie.

This means he won't attend the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday night - missing out on a fun-filled night of entertainment.

Earlier this month, a royal source told The Mirror: "After much back and forth, Harry said that he would be returning for the King's Coronation but it will only be a fleeting visit.

"Organisers have been told Harry won't be attending the concert with the rest of the Royal Family, which is a great shame as it will be such a spectacular event.

Archie is expected to be treated to an intimate party - and there could be some celebrity guests involved.

A source close to the family has said Meghan's mother Doria Ragland will be at the bash, along with Archie's pre-school friends and some celebrity pals of the couple.

Among the celeb guests who may rock up are chat show legend Oprah Winfrey, tennis ace Serena Williams, presenter Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi.

There will be lots of fun to be had for the kids as the Sussex's grounds extend to a whopping seven acres - and has a playground complete with two slides, climbing frame, tightrope, helter skelter and two types of climbing wall.

"Harry's going to make every effort to get back in time for Archie's birthday," the insider told Page Six.

"It's going to be an intimate party, it's not going to be like 'My Super Sweet 16' or Portia de Rossi's 50th!"
