Prince Harry and Meghan Markle revealed they’ve seen “some of” Netflix’s The Crown after Oprah Winfrey compared the couple’s life to the most recent season of the hit show.
Winfrey, whose interview with the couple aired on Sunday in the US, brought up the plot line that depicts Harry’s mother, Diana, feeling trapped and isolated from the rest of the royal family due to her ever-increasing celebrity status.
Harry also spoke about the Netflix series during a recent segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden. “They don’t pretend to be news. It’s fiction,” he said. “But it’s loosely based on the truth.”
“I'm way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife or myself. Because it's the difference between – that [The Crown] is obviously fiction, take it how you will, but this [the press] is being reported as fact because you're supposedly news. I have a real issue with that.”

The Crown actor Emma Corrin, who just won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana, responded to Harry’s comments to Corden, telling reporters, “I was very moved by the fact that he acknowledged it. I’m incredibly grateful to him and incredibly moved by what he said.”
Gillian Anderson, who won supporting actress for her portrayal of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on the series, also had kind words for Harry, saying, “Harry is fairly well qualified to judge what is fact or fiction. He’s understood what [creator] Peter [Morgan] is trying to do on The Crown.”
