Prince Harry’s reunion with the Queen will be ‘deeply emotional due to less time'

Prince Harry's reunion with the Queen will be "deeply emotional" for them both, a royal expert believes.

The Duke of Sussex, 36, is back in the UK ahead of the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip.

He has flown back to be by the family's side as they prepare to say goodbye to the Duke of Edinburgh, who died peacefully age 99 last Friday.

It is Harry's first trip home since he and wife Meghan Markle left for California following their split from royal life.

He must quarantine before the service, meaning he will only see his family for the funeral in Windsor on Saturday afternoon.

It will be the first time Harry has seen any of his relatives since his bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

He told the chat show legend he "never blindsided" his grandmother, saying he has too much respect for her.

Vanity Fair's Royal Editor Katie Nicholl says the "very short window of time" that Harry will actually have to see his the Queen will make things very difficult.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, she said: "I think it’s a really really tough position to be in.

"I know they are royals and we put them on a pedestal and we almost don’t see them as real people, but they are real people with real lives, real emotions and real feelings.

“They learn to control them, they know the cameras will be on them and I think they will be giving very little away on the day itself.

"But I think behind closed doors it will be a deeply emotional reunion.”

The funeral will be held at St George's Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle on Saturday and will coincide with a national three-minutes' silence.

Harry has said the Duke of Edinburgh was "a legend of banter" and he and Meghan "will always hold a special place for you in our hearts".

In an emotional statement released shortly after one from his brother, he said: "My grandfather was a man of service, honour and great humour.

"He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm.

"He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke.

"But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end."
