Prince Harry's director on a new mental health TV series said she feels "protective" of him after seeing all the "mean-spirited" criticism he has to face.
Dawn Porter, director of The Me You Can't See, said the very personal criticism Harry had to put up with has only made her admire him more.
She described how it's difficult for Americans to understand the intensity of the abuse directed at Harry and Meghan from the UK, reports the Daily Star.
The producer recalled how much the Duke of Sussex put her at ease when they first met at Oprah Winfrey's house to talk about the upcoming TV show.
She told Insider : "before I could even start to stutter or say anything wrong, he just put his hand out and said, 'Harry. Nice to meet you’.”
Most people who have watched the new series, which is on Apple TV, have responded to it positively, getting in touch to share how much it meant to them, according to Dawn.
The new series looks in depth at mental health and emotional wellbeing.
It includes interviews from the likes of Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, NBA star DeMar DeRozan and others about their experiences.
Dawn said: “He certainly understands how he's going to be treated in some parts of the public."

She added that even experience "a little taste" of the criticism Prince Harry receives has led her to feel "protective" of him because she "didn't really see that coming".
The producer is also baffled by how a show like The Me You Can't See, which offers so much help, support and comfort to others has seen some people react so negatively.
“I thought, 'Who could be unhappy with somebody saying, here's help if you need it?'" Dawn said.
"It does seem really mean-spirited."
