Prince Harry 'rewriting history' by claiming Meghan suggested therapy, says expert

Prince Harry is 'rewriting history' by claiming Meghan Markle suggested therapy, says an expert.

The Duke of Sussex recently appeared on podcast Armchair Expert in the US and claimed it was his wife who encouraged him to seek therapy to help with his mental health.

However, Daniela Elser said the couple must be suffering from "amnesia" - suggesting it was in fact Harry's brother William who initially suggested therapy.

"A strange pattern has emerged in what Meghan and Harry say. Either they’ve got amnesia or they’re trying to rewrite what happened", Elser told news.com.au.

Before Harry and Meghan quit the firm for a lucrative life in the US, he told journalist Bryony Gordon that he had been “very close to a complete breakdown on numerous occasions”.

Speaking in 2017, months after he started going out with the former Suits actress, he said his older brother William had tried to persuade him to seek help, reports Daily Star.

His revelations emerged around the time royal biographer Angela Levin, who spent a year with the former army captain for her book Harry: Conversations With The Prince , also interviewed him about his decision to seek help.

She wrote that she “asked him, ‘Are you going because Meghan suggested it, has she persuaded you,’ and he said, ‘Absolutely not, she had nothing to do with it, it was William.’”

Four years later, Harry this month told US podcast host Dax Shepard: "It was a conversation I had with my now-wife.

“She saw it straight away. She could tell that I was hurting and that some of the stuff that was out of my control was making me really angry and would make my blood boil.”

Referencing Harry's other claims of not being able to ride on a bike with his father Prince Charles, Ms Elser wrote: "This is not the only instance certain facts seem to have somehow gotten lost somewhere in the mix.

"For some reason, members of the house of Windsor suffer from a particular form of amnesia when it comes to bikes.

Speaking in 2017, months after he started going out with the former Suits actress, he said his older brother William had tried to persuade him to seek help.

It comes after a TV host claimed Prince Harry appeared to make a "slip of the tongue" when he claimed Meghan Markle pushed him to have therapy.

In the couple's much-publicised TV interview with Oprah back in March, Meghan herself claimed she was refused help.

Commenting on the contradiction between the two statements, Australian host Andrew Bolt speaking on Sky News Australia said it was odd Harry could seek help, but Meghan could not.

He asked: "Didn't she say in her notorious interview with Oprah Winfrey that when she wanted to go see a therapist herself Buckingham Palace refused her permission?

" Prince Harry, the actual prince could get therapy but his wife could not?"
