Prince Harry opened up about the strained relationship he has with the British royal family, and stated that he would love a “reconciliation” with his father King Charles.
“I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” Harry told the BBC in his California home on Friday.
He and wife Meghan Markle moved to the US in 2020, after the pair announced they were stepping back from royal duties.
“The things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything…I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in this country have done,” he continued.

Harry also discussed wanting to make amends with dad Charles, and stated that the latter “won’t speak” to him.
“There is no point in continuing to fight anymore, life is precious,” he said.
“I don’t know how much longer my father has…He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff but it would be nice to reconcile.
Harry’s comments refer to Charles’ cancer diagnosis, as well as Harry’s recent legal loss where he was unsuccessful in a bid to change his security arrangements. The Duke of Sussex has stated that security has been a key issue and a major issue why he has not returned to the UK alongside his family, aside from funerals.
“I can only come to the UK safely if I’m invited…There is a lot of control and ability in my father’s hands,” he said.
After Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in February 2020, British officials ruled that the pair would not receive personal police protection.

Harry also mentioned that “some family members will never forgive” him for writing his 2023 memoir, Spare, but said that he hopes to one day resolve issues with them in the future.
“It would be nice to have that reconciliation part now,” he continued.
“If they don’t want that, that’s entirely up to them.”
Buckingham Palace has not responded to Harry or the BBC, although a palace spokesperson told the British news outlet that all issues surrounding the prince’s security concerns “have been examined repeatedly” and that it is an issue for the courts.
