Prince Harry 'only has six Brit pals' so no one can confront him over behaviour

Prince Harry only has a handful of friends in Britain - and his small circle are people unwilling to challenge the royal, an Australian journalist has claimed.

Daniela Elser wrote that the Duke of Sussex does not have many people who can warn him if he is "being a bit of a k**b or making bad decisions" as he does not have many friends.

In an opinion piece, the royal writer and commentator said Harry has spent the past few years "largely cut off from his family, homeland and good sense".

The journalist thinks this may be the reason why Harry made decisions that some royal fans have struggled to understand - though others have applauded his jump across the pond.

Quoting Charlotte Griffiths, editor at large for the Mail on Sunday, who wrote that Harry has around six friends in his inner core of UK-based friends, Ms Elser wrote on News.com.au: "The tragedy here is that all of this is happening at a point in the Duke’s life when he needs as many old mates around him as possible.

"The power of friendships that date back decades is that they are some of the only people who can and will tell you when you are being a bit of a knob or making bad decisions or will tell it like it is.

"You know, the exact opposite of Hollywood where numerous sets of lips are permanently attached to more famous derrières."

The claims come just weeks before the King's Coronation, when Harry is travelling to the UK to be reunited with his family for the first time since his memoir Spare was published in January.

Meghan Markle will remain in California to celebrate their son Archie's fourth birthday, before Harry travels back to join his wife and children.

Harry's decision to attend the Coronation was only made public last week but a former equerry, who is close to both him and his brother Prince William, said he was aware of the Duke of Sussex's plans at the beginning of last month.

It has been claimed that one of the main reasons why Harry delayed confirming his attendance was that he wanted some recognition by the Royal Family for his children Archie and Lilibet.

King Charles III was reportedly happy to make a nod to his grandson and raise a glass to him during lunch.

However, it has been reported that it is unlikely Harry will attend the post-Coronation lunch, with claims that he will return to California after the ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

A source told the Mail on Sunday: "The King considered a toast to Archie. But with no member of the Sussex family now due at the lunch, it is highly unlikely he would do in their absence."
