Prince Harry 'is behind the decision to keep Archie's godparents secret'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are celebrating their son Archie's christening today, but Prince Harry is said to be the driving force in keeping the Godparents' names secret, according to reports.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released some details about the christening, which will take place at the Private Chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday.

But the Church of England has confirmed tat the royal couple will file Archie's birth in a register kept privately by the Royal Family.

A royal source told The Sun Harry wants to keep all details private.

The source said: "People might think Meghan responsible for this whole privacy thing but it is Harry leading the charge.

"He wants Archie to be a private citizen in every way possible."

It's known that 25 guests will see the Archbishop of Canterbury christen Archie and the Queen and Prince Philip will be absent at Sandringham.

The family event is expected to be attended by the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Palace said: "Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will be christened in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle. The godparents, in keeping with their wishes, will remain private."

The Church of England said: “Under the Parochial Registers and Records Measure 1978 all baptisms must be registered and the record made is normally publicly available.

“However the register to be used in this case is held privately by the royal household . . . and we understand that it has never complied with the usual requirement."
