Prince Harry 'incredibly grateful' to Lewis Capaldi in his first speech since losing HRH title

Prince Harry praised Scots Lewis Capaldi in his first speech since losing his royal family duties.

Harry thanked the West Lothian chart-topper for taking time out of his busy schedule to perform at a charity event in London last night.

He said: "There's a lot to do, but it's only possible by working together and receiving support from people like yourselves.

"And like Lewis Capaldi . who has so generously flown here directly from Malaysia, via Dubai, taking tonight out as a detour on his way to the Grammys in Los Angeles - where he is nominated for best song.

"Lewis, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be with us this evening. We are all incredibly grateful."

23-year-old Lewis was the special guest and entertainment at a dinner for his charity Sentebale at the Ivy, Chelsea.

The night before his plush gig, Lewis surprised diners and staff at a Glasgow restaurant when he turned up at with his family.

The Someone You Loved singer enjoyed mussels in a white wine sauce and spaghetti gambarini washed down with pints of his usual Tenants lager at Nonna’s Kitchen in Kirkintilloch .

Lewis’s dad Mark had phoned the Italian eatery to book a table and the family were seated away from prying eyes at the back of the restaurant when they went in about 2.30pm.

Waitress Rachel Coleman, 23, served the family.

“Lewis got up to answer a phone call and that’s when everybody else in the restaurant realised it was him”, she said.

“The place was mobbed and loads of folk asked him for a photo, and he was happy to oblige."
