Prince Harry has apparently decided to extend an olive branch to his family across the pond by sending them an invitation to an event they would no doubt like to attend, but there’s one problem.
The event in question is Harry’s much beloved Invictus Games. The Prince is deeply passionate about the bi-annual sporting ceremony in which wounded veterans from countries across the globe take part. While Harry has claimed his revoked security will stop him from returning to the U.K. that seemingly doesn’t count when it comes to 2027’s Invictus Games which are being held in Birmingham. We can expect to see the Prince, with or without Meghan Markle, at the sporting event.
If Harry will be back in the U.K. it would be perfect for a royal reunion
Of course, the Prince being back on home soil could potentially allow us to see some sort of royal reunion. While Harry has been in the U.K. a few times recently he hasn’t seen his family. In particular the Prince is struggling to get the attention of his father, King Charles. However, that could change come 2027.
According to a royal source, the Prince has extended an invitation to the games to his family and there’s a real possibility they could accept it.
“The Royals have always been hugely supportive of Invictus and proud of what Harry has achieved in that arena. This is one olive branch from him that might be reciprocated.”
Seeing as the games are being held on home turf there’s no reason why the royals couldn’t pop by and have that long-awaited reunion. In fact, it could be the perfect excuse to do so as they might all find it a tad less awkward if they have the games to distract them. It’s also a charitable cause meaning and the Royal Family love those, so it looks like there could be a real chance Harry may finally reconcile with his family, he’ll have to wait a couple of years though.
There’s also one problem
But of course, it’s not that simple as Harry’s games just so happen to coincide with a rather important day for the Royal Family. The opening ceremony for the games will be on the 12th of July and the closing ceremony on the 17th which also happens to be Queen Camilla’s birthday, and not just any birthday, the big 8-0.
Planning is already underway for a celebratory event and it’s unclear how much of the celebration will coincide with the games. It’s hard to imagine Charles or any royal prioritizing the Invictus Games and Harry over such a big event. Perhaps they could see Harry briefly for the opening?
Regardless, this is still a rather important development as it’s the first time Prince Harry has reached out to his family publicly in over five years. Maybe he really is serious about reconciling with his lost family members.
