Prince Harry had flowers placed at Diana's grave in touching Mother's Day tribute

Prince Harry arranged for flowers to be placed at his mum's grave for Mother's Day.

The Duke of Sussex made sure he was still able to pay tribute to Princess Diana, despite being more than 5,000 miles away in America.

He had a bouquet of flowers sent to his mother's childhood home in Althorp, Northamptonshire, his spokeswoman said.

Diana was buried in a private grave on the Spencer Family's estate after she died in a car crash in 1997, when Harry was just 12-years-old.

Both Harry and his brother William walked behind their mum's coffin on the day of her funeral, while millions of people watched them on their TVs around the world.

Last year Meghan and Harry shared a poignant Mother's Day post on their Sussex Royal Instagram account, which said: "Mummy. Mum. Mom. Mama. Granny. Nan. Thank you."

Its caption read: "No matter what you call your mum, this Mother's Day in the UK, we honour the mums all over the world who do so much every single day, and now more than ever."

This year the couple, who have stopped using their Sussex Royal account, did not share a Mother's Day post.

However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a picture of a cake their children baked for mum Kate.

Louis, George and Charlotte created the delicious treat in honour of both Kate and her mum Carole Middleton.

A heartwarming post on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's Twitter page showed a picture of what appeared to be a Victoria Sponge next to a snap of Kate holding her mum's hand as a child.

The photograph of the cake, which was adorned in hearts, was also shared on the Kensington Royal Instagram page.

In their social media posts, the couple said: "Celebrating two other special mothers today. Made by George, Charlotte and Louis."
