Prince Harry gives Lewis Capaldi a shoutout in first speech since quitting as senior royal

Prince Harry has had a lot on his mind recently, but oddly he still found time to thank West Lothian's most sensational chart-topper.

The prince has given his first speech since it was announced he and Meghan would lose their HRH titles as part of their decision to step down as senior royals.

Two weeks ago, they said they revealed they would be splitting their time between the UK and Canada as the sought a "progressive new role" within the monarchy.

Harry spoke at an event in London for the Sentebele charity in London on Sunday night. Lewis Capaldi was providing the entertainment and turned up especially for the event, the Daily Record reports.

In an emotional speech, he said he felt he had "no other option" but to step back.

But in a lighter moment, he also introduced the Someone You Loved singer on stage.

The prince said: "There's a lot to do, but it's only possible by working together and receiving support from people like yourselves.

"And like Lewis Capaldi who has so generously flown here directly from Malaysia, via Dubai, taking tonight out as a detour on his way to the Grammys in Los Angeles - where he is nominated for best song.

"Lewis, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be with us this evening. We are all incredibly grateful."

The pair were pictured together at the event, which was raising money for children affected by HIV in Africa.
