Prince Harry gave King Charles 'warning' over daughter Lilibet in birthday drama

King Charles was given a 'warning' about what gift to purchase Prince Harry's daughter Lilibet.

She celebrated her second birthday earlier this month, with the King planning to give her a lavish gift on June 4. However, OK! Magazine reports that Harry instructed on a 'less extravagant' gift.

A source explained that Charles had "his aides looking at custom-made cubby houses, similar to what the queen and Princess Margaret had when they were girls.”

The insider added: “He wants to give Lili something she will use and be hers. She’ll remember it forever – it’s going to be the ultimate surprise."

However, it's unclear whether the King heded his son's wishes or went all out for his young granddaughter, who is seventh in line to the throne. Royal family sources have remained tight-lipped about Lili's party, although Harry’s lawyer pointed out in court on Monday that he was unavailable to testify that day after taking a later flight from LA in order to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.

It's been reported that her party took place at Harry and Meghan’s £16million Montecito home. And despite the King's private plans for his granddaughter's birthday celebrations, he - alongside other senior royals - noticeably chose not to share a public birthday tribute on Twitter, as is usually the custom.

A royal source told OK! Magazine it was because they “don’t mark the birthdays of non-working members”. “They, of course, wish Lilibet a very happy birthday, but nothing will be put out on any channels,” the insider claimed.

It marks a different policy to that of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who honoured her great-granddaughter with a Twitter post for her first birthday last June. “Wishing Lilibet a very Happy 1st Birthday!” the Queen shared via her official social media account at the time.

However since then, the relationship between Harry and Meghan and his family has plunged to its lowest point yet following the release of their Netflix docu-series and his tell-all memoir, Spare.
