Prince Harry finding final royal visits 'emotional' as he prepares to quit, says old pal

Prince Harry is finding carrying out his final engagements before he quits the Royal Family "emotional" and is finding the situation "bittersweet", one of his old friends has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle will step down from their roles as senior royals on March 31, then start their new lives with son Archie in Canada.

They are both back in the UK this week carrying out their final engagements before their Buckingham Palace office is packed away.

It will be a huge change for Harry, who has carried out royal visits his entire life.

One of Harry's old friends told Vanity Fair : "It’s an emotional time for him in many ways.

"I think in many ways it’s bittersweet. He’s always wanted to have a regular life and to get away from the spotlight, and that’s what he's doing, but it basically means walking away from his family.

"Harry’s a loving loyal guy so that will be very hard for him."

The Duke has reportedly told friends that not being able to use his HRH title is "a small price to pay" for the freedom stepping down will give him.

Meghan and Harry are said to be excited about their future in Canada, especially setting up their new non-profit organisation in the spring.

Last week, Harry spoke at a travel event in Edinburgh and joined rockstar Jon Bon Jovi as he recorded a new version of his hit track Unbroken in aid of Invictus Games Foundation at the famous Abbey Road Studios.

Their last official engagement as senior royals with be next week when they join other members of the Royal Family at Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Day Service.

It will be the first time we've seen Meghan and Harry with other royals since Megxit was announced.

More than 2,000 people have been invited to the event, which will be shown on BBC One, including Prime Minister  Boris Johnson  , who this weekend revealed he is engaged to girlfriend Carrie Symonds and they are expecting their first child.
