Prince Harry ‘doesn’t know’ if he will be at Queen’s Jubilee over UK security fears

Prince Harry has said he is trying to come back to the UK for the Queen’s Jubilee, but it depends on his security arrangements.

In an interview with NBC’s Today show on Wednesday, the Duke of Sussex said he was hoping to return for the landmark occasion, but referenced his ongoing battle over security arrangements in the UK.

The prince is challenging the government's decision to refuse security during his visits from the US.

Asked by Today achor Hoda Kotb whether he was attending, he said: “I don't know yet.

“There's lots of things: security issues and everything else. So this is what I'm trying to do, trying to make it possible that, you know, I can get my kids to meet her.”

The Queen is not thought to have met the couple’s daughter, Lilibet, who is named after the Queen’s childhood nickname.

The duke also told the network that he felt like the United States was now his home.

“Home for me now, for the time being, is the States,” he said. “And it really feels like that way too, we’ve been welcomed with open arms”.

In a previously released clip of the interview, the Duke Of Sussex revealed the Queen was “on great form”, saying he wanted to make sure she is “protected”.

The Duke paid a visit to see Her Majesty at Windsor Castle last week, the first time he is thought to have visited the UK in two years.

“Being with her, it was great. It was so nice to see her. She was on great form,” he said.

“She's always got such a great sense of humour with me and I'm just making sure she's protected and got the right people around her”.

Asked whether he had found peace after his decision to quit royal life and move to the US, Prince Harry said: “At times I feel massively at peace but with everything going on in the world, and trying to help, and use the platform and influence…

“I think the biggest issue people wrestle with on a daily basis, and does provide more anxiety for me and for them is the helplessness.

“We as human beings are compassionate but when your life becomes really hard, it can be. for some, harder to find the compassion for other people.

“What I’ve learned over the years for myself is I find healing for myself in helping others.”

Prince Harry was interviewed in the Netherlands where he was visiting the Invictus Games, which he helped found.

The event sees 500 injured and sick military personnel and veterans from 20 nations compete in a week of adaptive sports.
