With coronavirus upon us, everyone is looking for a way to greet each other that doesn't involve a germ-laden handshake.
In Switzerland and France, experts are asking people to stop doing their typical two kiss greeting. In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is encouraging a casual greeting of “namaste” instead of a typical handshake.
Prince Harry found the latest way to stay germ-free, by offering up an elbow bump to the '7 Days' crooner, who was performing at the Commonwealth Ceremony.
Perhaps the elbow bump will be the new royal greeting - say goodbye to bows and curtsies, at least for now. The bump is the new bro hug - maybe Craig David can write a song about the manly embrace.
The bump has also been touted by American Vice President Mike Pence, who was said to have come into contact with someone with coronavirus during CPAC.
The "elbow bump" greeting is recommended as official Canadian government advice as an alternative to a handshake as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread.
The website explains that people should "change your regular greeting" to avoid the virus. "Instead of a handshake, a kiss or a hug, a friendly wave or elbow bump is less likely to expose you to respiratory viruses." Time to embrace the friendly wave - and throw in a "namaste" for good measure.
Prince Charles even offered up his own "namaste" and it was reported that none of the royals were shaking hands at the Commonwealth Event.
According to The New York Times, the handshake is over - and so are hookups, as people work harder than ever to avoid the virus.
