Prince Harry 'could reunite with King Charles' on UK tour after monarch flies back from Balmoral

Prince Harry continues his tour around the UK after hosting the WellChild Awards on Monday night, with a string of engagements planned for the royal.

The prince, 40, is in Nottingham and will later travel to London to visit the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College.

It comes as the King is visiting Balmoral for the month.

However, he is set to return to the capital while Harry is still there, prompting rumours of a reunion between the two, the Sun reported.

The father and son have not seen each other in 19 months.

The trip is the longest Harry has taken to the UK since the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and he has left his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, at their home in Montecito, California.

On Monday, Harry paid his respects to the late Queen in Windsor, just seven miles away from his brother, William, but the two are not expected to meet.

The Duke of Sussex will visit a community recording studio in Nottingham later today.

In May, Harry spoke of his anguish over the broken-down relationship with the King, after losing his legal challenge to retain police protection while in the UK.

He said he “would love a reconciliation” with his family but added the King “won’t speak to me because of this security stuff.”

“I do not know how much longer my father has,” he said. Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that the King had been diagnosed with cancer and had begun treatment.

Harry and Meghan were due to attend the awards in September 2022, but the death of Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral that day forced them to withdraw. The Duke later spoke to winners via video call and apologised for not being there in person.

In his memoir Spare, he recalled the “difficult days” following his grandmother’s passing, when he and Meghan were separated from their children for almost three weeks.

Harry’s visit comes just over a week before the King is due to host US President Donald Trump and his wife Melania on a state visit beginning September 17.
