Prince Harry and William to 'stand together' at unveiling of Diana statue

Prince Harry is set to stand 'shoulder to shoulder' with his brother Prince William as a statue of their late mother Princess Diana will be unveiled this summer, it is reported.

Despite the Royal Family facing fall outs after the news of Harry and Meghan's Oprah interview, which airs in the UK tonight on ITV, Harry reportedly said that he hopes the pair can show a united front.

A statue of the Princess of Wales is scheduled to be revealed on July 1, on what would have been her 60th birthday.

Prince Harry has said that attending the event is a 'priority', according to a source of the Telegraph.

But neither of the brothers' wives Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton are expected to attend the event.

The Princes commissioned the statue which will sit in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace, where Diana lived before she passed away.

It was first announced to mark the 20th anniversary of her death, but while the creation progressed the installation was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking when the statue was first announced, a source close to the Palace reportedly said: “Prince William and Prince Harry have dreamed of doing this for a long time.

"They were both just boys when their mother passed away, but are both now fully grown men and want to honour her in the best way possible.

"It has taken 20 years for this to finally come to fruition so they are determined it will be a lasting and fitting legacy in what is their official London residence and a place special to them both."
