Prince Harry and Meghan 'pitching secret project to Hollywood studios'

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan have been pitching a secret project to Hollywood studios, according to reports.

The couple began testing the waters with studio bosses in June this year, around the same time as they bought their California house, Variety reported.

Most details about the project remain unclear, including what it is about and the form it would take.

But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would reportedly serve as producers rather than getting in front of the camera if it were picked up.

NBCUniversal is said to be among the studios that heard the pitch, with chairman Bonnie Hammer an acquaintance of Meghan since her days acting in the TV show Suits.

Both Harry and Meghan have appeared in film projects since they stepped down as "senior royals" in January this year and moved to North America.

Meghan starred as narrator of the Disney+ documentary series Elephants, released in April. Disney chairman Bob Iger reportedly gave her the role after a conversation with Prince Harry at a film premiere last year.

And Harry later followed suit, appearing in a new Netflix documentary about about the Paralympic Games called Rising Phoenix, which is set to air on August 26.

He is also partnering with Oprah Winfrey on on an Apple TV+ documentary series about mental health.

Meanwhile, a senior Netflix executive has said he would like to work with the couple.

Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos said in January: "Who wouldn't be interested?"
