Prince Harry and Meghan ‘humbled’ as they’re named among world’s 100 most influential people by Time magazine

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have said they are “humbled” to feature in Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people list.

The couple addressed the milestone on the Archewell website following the news.

Their statement read: “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are not only humbled to be part of this year’s TIME 100 through the words of friend and partner José Andres, but to also write in praise of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the publication’s annual list of Most Influential People.”

The US publication on Wednesday released their front cover showcasing the Duke of Sussex stood behind his glamorous wife.

The younger son of Charles, who on Wednesday also celebrated his 37th birthday, wore all black for the photograph in contrast to his wife who dressed in a white jumpsuit.

“Springing into action is not the easy choice for a young duke and duchess who have been blessed through birth and talent, and burned by fame. It would be much safer to enjoy their good fortune and stay silent. That’s not what Harry and Meghan do, or who they are....

“In a world where everyone has an opinion about people they don’t know, the duke and duchess have compassion for the people they don’t know,” the Magazine said. “They don’t just opine. They run toward the struggle.”

The couple stepped down as senior royals in early last year - completing their final engagements in March.

Among the most shocking included the Duchess of Sussex’s suicidal thoughts.

The Duke of Sussex also signed up to two new roles since his departure; he has devoted his time to US professional coaching and mental health firm BetterUp as well as the Aspen Institute’s new Commission on Information Disorder.

He also collaborated with Winfrey for the Apple TV+ series The Me You Can’t See about mental health.

Meanwhile, the Queen led tributes on Wednesday to Harry as he celebrated his 37th birthday.

The Royal Family said: “Wishing The Duke of Sussex a happy birthday today!”

The post was accompanied by a series of images of Harry on various projects taken while he was a working member of the Royal Family.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a separate message, alongside a picture of Harry smiling. It read: “Happy birthday Prince Harry!”
