Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be at odds over their son Prince Archie’s future schooling, with insiders claiming it could become a major source of tension within their marriage. Royal expert Lydia Alto told The Sun that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have differing views on whether Archie should attend a traditional British boarding school.
“It could very possibly become a major source of tension in the future,” Alto said, adding that Meghan “has consistently presented herself as the decision-maker in their family, and if she labels boarding schools unacceptable, Harry will almost certainly back down.”
Reports began circulating after Express UK suggested that the couple “may come to blows” amid rumors that Prince Harry had registered Archie to attend Eton College, one of Britain’s most prestigious schools. The speculation quickly gained traction given Eton’s long-standing royal connections.

Both Prince William and Prince Harry attended the school, and King Charles III was the first heir to break tradition by sending his sons there instead of using private tutors. However, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess swiftly shut down the rumors, telling The Daily Beast, “I can confirm that Prince Harry has not put Archie’s name down for Eton. The Duke has no plans to send his son to Eton.”
Prince Harry has previously spoken candidly about his own difficult experience at Eton, describing it as “a profound shock.” He once wrote that the elite school felt like “heaven for brilliant boys,” but for him, it was “purgatory for one very unbrilliant boy.” Those comments have fueled speculation that Harry’s personal memories may influence his reluctance to send Archie there.

Meanwhile, Meghan is believed to favor a more modern, inclusive education for their children, likely in the United States, where the family currently lives in Montecito, California. According to royal analysts, the Duchess wants Archie and Lilibet to have a “normal upbringing” far removed from the pressures and scrutiny of royal life in Britain.
As one royal observer noted, “Meghan’s vision for her children’s future focuses on emotional well-being and freedom, while Harry remains torn between his royal upbringing and his new life in California.” While no decisions have been made, insiders suggest this debate may mark the beginning of deeper disagreements about how the couple will raise their children outside the royal fold.
