Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially leaving palace next month

The official date Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will formally step down from their royal duties has been announced.

Since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they wanted to step down as senior royals last month, plans have been drawn up to complete the leave which has been dubbed 'Megxit'.

The couple, who married in May 2018, will complete their final duties on March 9 and officially leave their royal duties behind on March 31.

They will no longer carry out duties on behalf of the Queen from this date, though this will be reviewed in 12 months time.

Yesterday, it was reported the couple had been banned from using the 'Sussex Royal' brand by the Queen.

Moving forward, the couple will no longer have an office at Buckingham Palace and will be represented instead by their UK foundation team.

Though they'll retain their HRH titles, they will not use them.

The Duke and Duchess are expected to be in the UK regularly over the next few months with a series of events lined up.

Harry is due to attend an Invictus Games event with Livin' On a Prayer singer Jon Bon Jovi on February 28.

The couple will then attend the Endeavour Fund awards on March 5, and Harry is expected to be at Silverstone with racing legend Lewis Hamilton on March 6.

The pair will be at the Mountbatten Festival of Music on March 7, and Meghan is expected to mark International Women's Day on March 8.

The couple will then join the Queen and the Royal Family for the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on March 9.

Their Buckingham Palace operation will end on April 1, though Harry is expected to attend the London Marathon in April as a patron.

It has been reported Prince Harry will be able to return to his military roles after a year.

The couple have been candid with how they've struggled with the media since marrying.
