The Queen appeared in good spirits on Sunday as she attended a church service with Prince Andrew after it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were walking away from the monarchy.
Harry and Meghan had wanted to remain as working royals and become financially independent, but in a statement issued on Saturday, the Sussexes announced they will stop carrying out royal duties from the spring.
The Queen publicly backed the couple in the statement, saying she recognised the "challenges" they had faced over the past year.
Meanwhile, Meghan's father Thomas Markle hit out and his daughter's and Harry's decision to split from the royals, accusing them of "cheapening" the institution.
