Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly have a lengthy list of requirements for anyone wishing to book them for “virtual” speaking appearances, according to a report.
The document detailing the demands comes from the Harry Walker Agency (HWA), a New York-based speaking agency, and includes an upfront guarantee of the couple’s speaking fee and gives the Duke and Duchess of Sussex the ability to choose who introduces them and who moderates the event, according to The Telegraph, which viewed the form.
“The choice of introducer and moderator will be at the final discretion of the speaker," the Virtual Event Request Form reads, adding: “the Fee will need to be paid directly from the contracting organisation’s account.”
In addition to requiring details of all sponsors involved in the event and “what they are receiving in return for their sponsorship,” as well as details about who else will be speaking, the document also requires a contingency plan for any connectivity issues that may arise.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s four-page list of requirements also reportedly asks questions such as: “What will the audience see on screen?” “Will you incorporate any branding?” and “What will the Speaker see on screen immediately prior to and during their presentation?”
It is not clear how much the duke and duchess charge for each speaking event, however, The New York Times previously reported their fee per speech could be around $1m, with the couple signing to HWA in June.
The agency, which is described as “the world’s leading speakers bureau” on its website, also includes clients such as Barack and Michelle Obama, according to Vanity Fair.
Meghan and Harry, who announced in January their intention to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family and seek financial independence, are currently living in California with their son Archie.
The couple, who have made numerous virtual appearances over the past months, recently signed a multi-year deal with Netflix which is estimated to be worth $150m.
The Independent has contacted representatives for The Sussexes and HGA for comment.
