Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expecting second child together

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting their second child together, it has been confirmed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated the birth of their son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in 2019 - and he is now set to become a big brother.

A spokesperson for the couple said: “The Duke and Duchess are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

Their second child will become the eighth in line to the throne as the Queen and Prince Philip’s grandchild.

It will be welcome news for the pair after they went through the heartache of a miscarriage in the summer of 2020.

Meghan told fans of the devastating experience in a moving piece published in the New York Times.

She had been putting Archie to bed when she felt a “sharp cramp” and dropped to the floor of the California home she shares with Prince Harry.

Meghan wrote: “After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp cramp. I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right.

"I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”

The couple quit their roles as senior working royals in March 2020 in a quest for personal and financial freedom, and now live in an £11 million house in Montecito in California.
