Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are 'very, very, happy' with California life, says expert

It's been almost two years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle put down roots in California after quitting as royals and moving to America.

And according to a former royal correspondent who lives close to them in Montecito, the couple seems to be "very, very happy" there.

Harry and Meghan, along with children Archie and Lilibet, live in a secluded £11million nine-bedroom pile, which boasts a gym, a swimming pool and a tennis court.

Royal expert Richard Mineards, who also lives in Montecito, says the pandemic saw the family lockdown in order to keep their children safe.

But he now says with the worst of the crisis seemingly over, it's likely they'll be out and about more in the community, where they've made a number of celebrity friends.

He told the Evening Standard : "Harry’s been out on his bicycle and walking his adopted Labrador on Miramar Beach and she’s been out shopping in both the upper village and lower village and they seem to be very, very happy as far as I can see.”

"They’ve made a lot of friends here, particularly Orlando and Katy who live nearby on Park Lane.

“They also have good friendships with Ellen and Oprah who live minutes away so they may well have been going over there and vice versa with the children.”

Meanwhile, Mineards points out that Harry and Meghan live in a catchment area for Cold Spring School, a "very, very good" public school that they could send Archie to when he is old enough.

It is thought Harry and Meghan may return to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June (Getty Images)

There has been speculation Harry and Meghan could return to the UK for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.

Since leaving for America, Harry has returned to the UK twice - for Prince Philip's funeral and to unveil a statue of his late mother Princess Diana.

Meghan has yet to return with son Archie, while daughter Lilibet, was born in America and has never been to England.

Last month, royal sources revealed Charles has offered an olive branch to Harry by inviting his family to stay with him when they next visit the UK.

However, it then emerged that Harry claims he is “unable to return home” after a decision following his exit from the royal family stripped him of his right to personal security provided by the Met Police.

Harry, 37, has since decided to sue the British government by applying for a judicial review against the decision, which could see him face the Home Office at the court.
