Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have announced the birth of their second child.

According to a statement from their press secretary the pair welcomed their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, into the world at 11.40am on Friday, June 4.

'Lili' was born weighing seven pounds and 11 ounces at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California.

She was named after her great-grandmother, The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.

Her middle name is touching homage to Princess Diana.

The statement added: "This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

"The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family."
