Prince George is William's mini-me in matching suit and tie at his first England game

Prince George cheered on England to victory over Germany at Wembley alongside dad Prince William with the pair decked out in matching suits.

It was a surprise appearance from George, 7, with his parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and maybe he is a lucky charm with England getting their first win over Germany in a tournament knock-out stage since 1966.

George was smartly dressed with the young royal matching his navy suit and tie with Prince William, 39, for the Euro 2020 match.

It was a huge moment for England to beat their old rival and a rare occasion for George to be in the spotlight without his younger siblings Princess Charlotte, 6, and three-year-old Prince Louis.

Prince George looked on shyly as his parents joined the crowd in belting out the national anthem.

Royal watchers on social media noted how George is taking after his dad's side of the family.

One said: "Prince George looks just like his dad and Grandma Diana with that look!"

Another said he "looks like his father’s mini me" as others noted the suited and booted George looked "all grown up".

George is believed to be a big football fan like his dad and he was also seen chatting to David Beckham in the stands as they watched England come out on top thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.

William is a keen fan of Aston Villa and took George down to Villa Park to watch his first match against Norwich City in October, 2019.

Then he proudly wore a Three Lions T-shirt as he was snapped on his fifth birthday at Kensington Palace during the England “lionesses” World Cup run.

He is reportedly keen also to play football and likes to knock the ball around at home.

Last year he also played for a local team and is said to have had a football-themed party.

The royals were around 45,000 fans that were allowed in to watch the clash as Covid restrictions have been eased, while millions more celebrated after watching it in bars and pubs around the country.

The Duke of Cambridge was seen going wild alongside wife Kate Middleton, 39, after Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the 75th minute and was equally excited 11 minutes later.

The couple's eldest son Prince George was seen standing gobsmacked next to his dad as fans around the ground erupted into cheers.

William was seen clapping and whispering to his little son throughout but all decorum went out the window when England took the lead after a nervy first 70-odd minutes.

Both Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Sir Keir Starmer urged employers to allow workers to leave early so that they could watch the clash that began at 5pm.
