Prince Emmanuel Philibert of Venice visits New York for philanthropic cocktail party

Early December is a busy time for any self-respecting socialite. There are Christmas parties, holiday parties, office parties, drinks with friends, family commitments and so much more. When the festive field is so full of possibilities, it means a lot more when socialites choose to do something philanthropic with their evening.

Members of the Young Friends of Save Venice (who know how to throw a party – remember the Masquerade Ball?) and The American Foundation of the Order of Savoy threw a cocktail party at 10 Corso Como Café in Manhattan’s Seaport District that was worth venturing into the cold for.

The occasion was to host HRH Prince Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy and to discuss ongoing relief efforts after the catastrophic Acqua Alta floods this past November. Of course, let’s be honest - meeting a real-life royal is certainly a big draw as well.

The Prince spoke enthusiastically about his interest in conservation of the art and culture of Venice, as well as the rest of Italy. Guests included supporters of both Save Venice and the Order of Savoy, ranging from royalty to fashionistas

10 Corso Como Café provided nibbles for the evening, ranging from always trendy avocado toast to four cheese arancini, which were a hit. Guests sipped on custom cocktails provided by Valdo Prosecco, Galliano, Q Tonics, Macchu Pisco and Scholium Wines.

The Prince, who endeared himself all evening by speaking passionately about his work and in a charming, self-deprecating way about his (very good) English, closed out the night by asking for an enormous group photo of all attendees still at the party 30 minutes after the official end time. Sounds like a prince of the people to us.
