Chaka Khan has paid tribute to the late singer Prince after he was found dead in his recording studio aged 57.
The singer said Prince was now “at peace with his father”.
Prince wrote the song I Feel For You, which later appeared on Khan’s 1984 album of the same name. Her cover went to number three in the Billboard charts and helped relaunch Khan's career.
A number of musicians have also left emotional tributes for Prince. Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood wrote: “I will miss a good friend who was so talented. He was such a great performer/guitar player. Sleep well Prince.”
Model Iman, who recently lost her husband David Bowie, wrote: “So sad to hear of Prince's passing; one of the greatest musical talents of my lifetime. Maybe of the 20th century. RIP.”
Justin Timberlake shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, writing: “They say don't meet your idols... That they let you down. But, some of my greatest, funniest (yes, he was hilarious), and most prolific encounters and conversations about music came from the moments that I spent with him.
“It would be silly to say that he has inspired our music... It's beyond that. He's somewhere within every song I've ever written.”
In a statement, Prince's publicist said: “It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.
“There are no further details as to the cause of death at this time.”
