Prince Charles' unusual eating habit which can frustrate his staff

A healthy, well balanced diet is a top priority for all members of the Firm, and their host of chefs and nutritionists ensure they get just that.

Take The Queen, still robust at her advanced age, who enjoys a simple dinner of fish or well done meat and vegetables most days.

It’s a similar picture for her eldest son, Prince Charles, who is reportedly a big fan of healthy, organic produce.

He maintains an organic garden at his home in Highgrove, Gloucestershire, where he grows his own mushrooms which he loves to eat.

Former chef to the Queen, Darren McGrady, says the Prince enjoys fruit or a boiled egg for breakfast.

He indulges in a rather unconventional treat of cheesy baked eggs at the weekend - a dish he shared on Instagram last year.

Dinner for the Prince usually consists of mushroom risotto with rack of lamb, coq-au-vin or a moussaka as Mashed.com reports.

But there’s one meal the Prince isn’t a fan of, lunch.

In an effort to stay trim it’s reported that Charles follows a diet which resembles intermittent fasting, eating a light breakfast and dinner while forgoing lunch completely.

And while this works for the prince, it apparently frustrates his staff.

A member of his staff told the Daily Mail : "It can be a problem sometimes.

"When we do day visits or foreign tours, he can go the whole day without stopping for a break, which means we all have to miss our lunch as well."

The palace insider went on to say: "It's good in a way, because it means he has time to meet more people, but he doesn't seem to notice all the rumbling stomachs around him. You just learn that you have to have a big breakfast on those days."

Prince Charles' sister Princess Anne also enjoys fruit for breakfast, which they - and all members of the Firm - are instructed to eat with a knife and fork when dining in the palace.

But the Princess Royal has a rather strange habit when it comes to her favourite fruit - bananas - which she reportedly likes 'almost black' because they're easier to digest.
