Prince Charles to visit Pontypridd on Friday to meet businesses and residents hit by Storm Dennis

Prince Charles will visit Pontypridd on Friday, February 21 to meet with businesses and residents hit by Storm Dennis.

The Valleys town was one of the worst-hit areas over the weekend as the River Taff burst its banks and flooded the high street.

Dozens of residents and businesses were left to clean up the devastating mess on Monday after the river reached its highest level in 40 years, leaving behind a trail of destruction in its wake.

Now, the Prince of Wales has announced he will visit the area as part of a pre-arranged visit to south Wales to support those involved in the rescue and support effort.

According to his public diary, Prince Charles will visit the CAF train factory in Newport to meet employees, learn about the production process and officially open the facility.

He will visit the new Aston Martin Lagonda factory in St Athan before going on to the British Airways Maintenance Centre to celebrate its 100th anniversary at  Cardiff Airport.

From there the Royal will visit the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth to meet with patients and staff and go on to Pontypridd to meet residents and businesses affected by the floods and to meet those involved in the rescue and support effort.

This week will mark the second Royal visit to Wales this month.

Earlier this week Prince William and Kate visited Mumbles where they got to try Joe's ice cream before visiting a RNLI lifeboat station and Tata Steel in Port Talbot.
