A huge part of royal life involves making various trips around the UK and other parts of the world - providing the perfect opportunity for fans and members of public to meet the royal family in the flesh.
Generally speaking, the encounters are polite and brief, but every now and then, members of the royal family stop and take the time to really chat to certain people in the crowd, which is exactly what Prince Charles did on a recent trip to Ireland with Camilla - although he might've been left wishing he hadn't.
During a visit to Connswater Greenway in Belfast the Prince of Wales stopped to speak to fan Laura-Anne, who was there with her baby, and came bearing gifts for the royal.

In an exchange which has been shared to her Instagram, Laura-Anne greeted Charles with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, telling him: "These are for yourself and Camilla. There's some Lily of the Valley, I heard it's her Majesty the Queen's favourite flower so we brought it out for her jubilee."
Accepting the gift, Charles then lifted the flowers up to his nose in a bid to capture the scent of the flowers, telling Laura-Anna: "Oh, you're very kind."
However, things got a little awkward when the fan burst out laughing and pointed out that the flowers were actually artificial, which in turn made the future king giggle.
Luckily Charles remained gracious and added: "Thank you very much, you're very kind," he said before moving on and greeting more well-wishers.
Laura-Anne, who runs her own artificial flower business, later shared the clip on Instagram, commenting on how her flowers were "so realistic that even our future King give them a sniff."
"Bless him! He smells them because he's a gentleman," one follower commented, while another branded the moment "priceless!"
