Barbara Streisand has revealed the Prince of Wales once left a "very special" gift in her hotel room after being wowed by her talent.
The legendary music star met the future King when she was recording at Warner Bros studios in 1974, three years before he met Diana, the future Princess of Wales.
At the time he was a 26-year-old serving in the Royal Navy, and struck up a surprising friendship with the Funny Girl actress.
Charles has shown himself to be a real fan of Barbra in recent months, first telling The Times he will "never forget her dazzling, effervescent talent" and then telling a Hospital Broadcasting Association programme he was a "great admirer" of Barbra’s as he chose the song Don’t Rain on My Parade as one of his favourite tracks.

Speaking Ross King for Lorraine, she remembered: "I offered him a sip of tea and I thought, 'They didn’t have to test me for poison or something? No."'
Repaying the comments he made of her, Barbra added: "We became friends, and I loved spending some time at Highgrove for a weekend fundraiser and going through his gardens."
But she was most touched by a special gift which was left in her hotel room the next time she was in London - a bouquet of freshly cut flowers from his own personal garden.
"I said, [to her assistant] 'Who sent me that?' "and she said, 'A fan called Charles.' And I said, 'Really? Let me see the note'—and there was his seal. And they weren't like from a florist because they were from his gardens and it's a different look."

"It was so funny," Barbra said. "I thought," That's Prince Charles!"
At the time Prince Charles was the most eligible in the world, something which Barbra made light of when he visited her show.
"I had a very funny line on stage when he came to see [my] show," Barbra said. "I said, 'You know, if I played my cards right, I could have wound up being the first Jewish princess!'"
