Prince Charles 'is worried for Harry like he used to worry for Diana'

Prince Charles is reportedly worried for Harry in the same way he used to fear for Diana, a royal source has claimed.

The Prince of Wales is said to be concerned about a gulf opening up between his son and the rest of the royal family.

Harry confirmed rumours of a rift with William when he spoke to ITV in a candid documentary admitting "you have good days, you have bad days".

While the heir to the throne's public support for Harry and Meghan will continue, however he apparently has private concerns about the rift.

It is claimed he believes the saga is distracting from his overseas work, just as it drew attention away from Prince William and Kate Middleton's Pakistan trip.

A royal source told The Sun: "Charles is worrying about Harry in the same way he did Diana. Publicly he will defend his son.”

However, the Prince has reportedly become irate about the situation in private.

The source added: “The Prince of Wales is very busy at the moment touring Japan, including a visit with the Welsh rugby team.

"But the point is that this whole kerfuffle has completely undermined the work he is doing... to do it to your brother is one thing. To do it to your father and paymaster is a completely different matter altogether.”

The royal insider said the conflict has overshadowed the Prince's new two-part ITV documentary, Prince Charles: Inside the Duchy of Cornwall, which airs tonight.

Harry and Meghan spoke of their “struggle” with life in the public eye during their own documentary on Sunday.

The Mirror previously revealed that senior royals believed Harry and Meghan were “in a moment of crisis” after their candid comments.

Harry, 35, finally confirmed rumours of a rift with brother Prince William in the programme.

Speaking to ITV news anchor Tom Bradby, who he has been friends with for nearly 20 years, he said: “Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under inevitably, you know, stuff happens.

“But look, we’re brothers. We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and I know he’ll always be there for me.

“You know, we don’t see each other as much as we, as much as we used to because we’re so busy. But I love him dearly and, you know, the majority of the stuff is created out of nothing. Just as I said, as brothers, you have good days, you have bad days.”
