Britain's heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker — the Duchess of Cornwall — are visiting Egypt between 18 and 19 November, the British Embassy in Cairo said in a statement.
“Their Royal Highnesses’ upcoming visit to Egypt is the first since 2006, 15 years ago,” Gareth Bayley, the British ambassador to Egypt tweeted on Tuesday.
He said that the couple will be welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the First Lady, discussing UK-Egypt cooperation on climate change, religious tolerance and bilateral ties.
The visit will highlight Egypt’s close ties with the UK, according to the Ambassador.
It will also serve as an opportunity to prove Egypt’s increasing commitment to protect the environment.
The Prince and his wife are visiting the Middle East, in their first major overseas tour since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
The tour includes a visit to Jordan on November 16, before arriving to Egypt.
The visit comes as the UK and Jordan celebrate "100 years of partnership.”
Prince Charles toured Jordan in 2015 and his wife visited it in 2013.
