Prince is the latest artist to postpone dates following the Paris terrorist attacks.

The Prince Spotlight: Piano & a Microphone tour was scheduled to begin this weekend in Austria on 21 November, however, a statement on the venue’s website reads: “Due to the tragic events in Paris, the tour promoter has decided to postpone the upcoming European tour until further notice.”

The new Prince tour, which was announced last week, was a first for the artist: he was set to embark on a solo tour of Europe, playing piano. During a press event, Prince said he wanted to tour without a band because he was so unused to getting bad reviews that he felt he needed a new challenge.

He joins Motörhead, the Deftones, U2 and Foo Fighters in cancelling their scheduled concerts in Paris and subsequent tours. U2, who laid flowers at a memorial near Le Bataclan this weekend, had been due to perform in the French capital on Saturday. Foo Fighters have cancelled the remaining dates of their European tour “in light of this senseless violence”, while Motörhead, who were scheduled to perform in the French capital on Sunday, have rescheduled their show for January. Rock band the Deftones were due to play two shows at Le Bataclan on Sunday and Monday, and were in Paris at the time of the attacks. They have also cancelled both gigs.

Coldplay scrapped a live stream of a concert at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles “out of respect for the terrible events”, but paid tribute to the people of Paris by performing a cover of John Lennon’s Imagine at the show.
